Books

The mind cannot always see the way forward, and so we can use books to illuminate that path. We should take this assistance with reflection, solitude, and thought, not blind acquiescence. Books should be for idle time, they must not interrupt or take the place of thought. There exists moments in life where we can see the world so clearly, these moments are far to precious to be wasted on other men’s transcripts of their readings. The world may not always be enjoyable, but it is always real. Academia and learning are important, but we must not substitute learning for doing.
